Gigg Mill in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire. Small museum in an old mill building. Weaving is demonstrated on several types of weaving looms, namely small contemporary looms, a large hand loom from c.1850, and a 1950s motor-powered Dobcross loom made by Hutchinson, Hollingworth and Co.
Directions. At Nailsworth, turn off the A46 onto the B4058, Old Bristol Road, direction Horsley. The mill is 300m on the right where the road dips. There is parking, and signs will direct you to the Weaving Shed.
Gigg Mill, Nailsworth This unprepossessing, rendered L-shaped building (just left of centre) with an attached small north-light shed has a long history. The site dates back to at least 1559 when Gigg Mill was granted to a local clothier.
We have a unique opportunity to visit two of Stroudwater Textile Trust's sites, Dunkirk Mill Museum and Gigg Mill Weaving Shed. This is a self-travel event and we would suggest, where possible, attendees car share because parking at Dunkirk Mill is limited (4 spaces).
